This story was an excellent fit for third grade students. They were able to make many connections to other blacks who shared similiar goals during slavery. I was concerned about the religious overtones of this story, but the children were able to discern the overall message without getting into their personal beliefs.

The criminals in this book definitely make a person feel smarter. There's only one or two stories on each page so while shorter than it may first appear, it makes for a very easy read. The puns at the end of each story are definitely groan-worthy and make it only tolerable for a handful of pages at a time. Would make a good bathroom book.

It's a book you can open to pretty much any page and read a complete bit or bits within a minute or two--like trivia books, almanacs, collections of short-short stories or essays, and books like this one.

The stories are not all that funny to begin with: a guy stealing boots and then wearing them to court; a couple accidentally calling 911 and then eventually confessing to possession of marijuana; a guy who robs the same store twice using the same m.o.; etc... But the really awful thing about this book is the author's attempt to crack wise at the end of each story with a truly witless, and awful pun ("Beam me up, Scotty. There's no sign of intelligent life on this planet?" "And people wonder why they still call it dope?" etc...). It is truly cringe-inducingly awful!

Beautiful book. Just right for the new widow: skinny book, big print, full of scripture and encouragement. This is a book that can be read and absorbed even when in the "fog" of early widowhood that the author describes. I have given copies of this book as gifts and they have been appreciated.

I have been a widow for a little over a year. The walk is not easy. The emptiness is so sad. I miss my husband terribly. Only a woman who has gone through this loss, could write on pages what I feel in my heart.Dr. Adrian Rogers blessed us for many years with his Word from God. He comforted our soul in times of health, wealth, loss, etc., whatever came our way. His wife too finds the words that ring true to this valley of loneliness from death. Appreciate her words of comfort and truth as to times ahead. Our God is good. He makes no mistakes. He supplies words of wisdom for those that will reach out and take them. I am indebted to Mrs. Rogers.

This book was okay but did not cover most of the concerns and reactions of recent widowhood... I will not purchase additional copies of this book to share. It would not have met my emotional needs or explained how to cope with so many issues. God got me through.. He sent a different book along.

I tried a lot of secular books but they just didn't do it for me. If one already knows the creator of the universe, then the only thing that really helps is something based on His word and infinite love.

With a clear grasp of what the Church is and how it relates to other particular churches and ecclesial communities, a person is able to take a helpful, faithful role in the ecumenical conversation that happens among Christians in their everyday relationships.Be advised that this is no facile quick read. The arguments are developed tightly and require close attention and patience. But the effort is repaid with deeper understanding. The coming semester will tell how well undergrad students who are not necessarily theology majors respond.

This book was written by one of the noted Catholic theologians of the twentieth century, present at the Second Vatican Council and who continued to teach through his upper-80's."The Church We Believe In" looks at the four marks of the Church we have received from ancient times to see what Christians of different denominations understand about their meaning today. He seeks to find points of convergence for the denominations based on their common agreement. It is a unique contribution, an understanding of which can aid ecumenical dialogue.

Fr Sullivan provides a superb overview here of Catholic ecclesiology. He goes in to detail about how the Church of Christ is One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic, yet in still an imperfect/incomplete sense. This work is inundated with references to Magisterial documents and Ecumenical Councils, especially Vatican II. The Catholic doctrine of "Outside the Church there is no salvation" is well elucidated with an emphaisis on the culpability of the individual. Without denying this doctrine Fr Sullivan recommends the more current understanding of the Church as the "Universal Sacrament of Salvation".Questions such as "Who belongs to the Church?", "How are Protestants related to the Catholic Church?" and issues regarding the Catholic Church's eucharistic communion with the Orthodox Churches of the east are answered in detail with copius citations to Church documents.This work also offers a thorough explanation of why the Church that Jesus established soley "subsists in" the Catholic Church. A must for either any Catholic wanting to find out more about the Church's beliefs or inquiring non-Catholics.

HIMSS hasn't made any significant changes to the latest edition. A lot has happened in the last few years in healthcare IT and none of that reflects in this book. Their previous edition is from 2012. Little disappointing. I'd say go for a used second edition if you're a student and trying to save some money. Believe it or not, second edition is as good as this one and you'll get bang for your buck!

I took a practice test and then used this book and a couple of white papers to study. I only gained enough background knowledge to pass. The content absolutely does NOT reflect the exam and is out of date regarding technology used in hospitals and ambulatory settings.Take the review course if you really want to do well.

This book offers very basic information and it does truly reflect the content of the exam. No value for the price.

This is a great book for a person like me, not very organized in my religious observances.... I found everything I needed, and if those prayers are still not answered... well, that is not the book's fault! May be one day...

Loved the history of the prayers. Beautifully written

This is perfect for almost any woman that has an interest in prayer and not having to follow the set format of a service or is too busy to. It covers just about any situation and is written in both Hebrew and English so that you can pray in English especially of you don't understand Hebrew well. I recomend this as a gift at any occation for someone who has interests in Jewish thoughts.

I love this book because it has so much history and tells you where the prayers come from, often who wrote them and why, and what situation they were in when each one was written. Some of the prayers are translations or alternate versions of standard prayers found in standard siddurim. Each prayer is written in English, and then the facing page is either Hebrew or Yiddish or Ladino! Beautifully written, beautifully collected, something to cherish and pass down to the young ladies in the family! I have been using this to extend my regular prayers, and to extend my own conversations with HaShem. Prayers for joyous occasions, troubling times, daily thoughts, etc. are all included.There is even a beautiful, short Haggadah written on toilet paper during the holocaust by a concentration camp victim, slipped to another woman just before the author passed on! Even the way this book came about is beautiful...you really should read the inside cover.

Beautifully written, however not as many prayers as I expected nor the type I was looking for.

This is good when traveling as I have this and my bible downloaded into Kindle. Saves on how much packing I have to do.
