This book is wonderful and is a book that everyone should own. I fell in love with it and have enjoyed the recipes for Challah. There are so many good recipes and the book is infused with inspiring wisdom and insight for living life well. Many of the ideas about what it means to be a woman in today's world and a nurturer to others I find both refreshing and energizing. I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who wants to enrich their Shabbat, family and life. Also, I am enjoying another book by this author, The Rising Life, and highly recommend it as well.This is the only book you need for all things Challah! My family loves all the recipes we have tried and each week they say they have a new favorite. The instructions for braiding all different types are clear and easy to follow. You will be glad you bought this book and it will be a favorite for families for years to come.

In love with book, its a beautiful book and not just talking abiut the pictures!!!! Made the classic Challah recipe which I have to tell you I was a little skeptical about since my usual recipe calls for almost double the amount of yeast but just had a roll (because I just had to taste test) and its soooooooo good. Cant wait to try the other recipes!!!!!

So wonderful! While definitely a cookbook, and a beautiful one at that, I’m hesitant to call it a cookbook, because it is so much more. The first part provides a MindShift in terms of how we view challah, and the process of challah baking, particularly as it relates to our roles as Jewish women. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a refreshing and revitalizing perspective on the sacred act of challah making.

This cookbook is not only a cookbook. It’s truley a work of art. You can see Rochie really put her whole heart and soul into this book. There is so much she’s teaches and shares about nurturing life which in turn is expressed by the intentions in baking challah. As well she’s has so many different types of challah, with different types of flours and sourdough. She also teaches you how to make it special by add many different fillings. And then teaches you how to shapes it in so many different and beautiful designs. The photography is so artistic and by each challah there’s a not of which page to turn to in order to learn how to braid it in that shape. She though of every detail from the cover to cover. There’s even a bookmark so you can save that special recipe or keep your place where you were reading. And then of course she’s teaches you the Halacha behind everything. Trial ya work of art and lifetime of learning. It’s really a beautiful book.

In my line of work I occasionally encounter people who are having relationship problems and they look to me for answers. Too often I struggle with what I might say to sooth their troubled heart, which is why I downloaded this book. The title was the selling point for me – I wanted something upbeat that would offer me some insight into divorce from a professional's perspective. As a child, I watched my parents endure a bitter divorce that ate at my mother for 22 years, until the day she died. After completing this book, I wish she would have read something similar. It would have helped her overcome the anxiety and hurt that consumed her for far too long.I must admit I am happily married, but Happy Divorce did me a wealth of good. It certainly is geared toward individuals navigating a broken relationship, but it's also about bettering yourself. The author is well versed in this field and her expertise comes through with the content and writing style. The book itself is divided into two portions, each having a unique focus. I appreciated the section on building self-esteem, and becoming your own person. She's included an exercise in the form of a questionnaire that was very intuitive and rewarding. It took me a few hours to complete the written task, but I found the experience quite fulfilling. My wife and I did it together and we had fun comparing our responses. I would recommend the book to anyone, based solely on access to the questionnaire. I thought of my mother often as I read this book. So much of what was written puts divorce into a clear, understandable, manageable box for anyone in the midst of a split. It did help me gain some valuable insight into the psyche of divorce and what I might say to help others in need. There are some useful specifics in part two, such as finding a divorce lawyer, how to deal with the ex's family, and how to help children understand the sadness of a family dissolving. I did find a bit of redundancy throughout, but the emphasis was not distracting.I would recommend this book to any individual or couple that is embroiled in a separation or thinking about it. It is very detailed, leaving no aspect of divorce unexplored. I believe most, especially women, will relate to the author, as she writes from a position of having been there and had to discover what it meant to have a Happy Divorce.

Heart warming and excellent read. Divorce isn't something to take lightly and this book really gets into how to cope and dealing with the nitty gritty of divorce, from the emotional roller coaster to the after affect, on children, your personal life, ect.... It is a must read for anyone going through a divorce, or even thinking about getting one. It was truly an excellent read!

I enjoyed the book it resonated in my mind all the thoughts I have had throughout this grieving process. I have a way to go but it helped put some things into perspective. Thanks

Down to earth with valuable insights!

Sorry, this book needs some editing and more thought put into it. It gets a little wishy washy and didn't help me much at all when i was going through a divorce. Happily, my marriage is reconciled and i don't need to try to find help like this anymore. Please edit....put children higher up too in the book. They get pushed back and scrambled around so bad during a divorce. Even though i also thought the divorce was a good idea, i prayed God's will be done for 6 months or more, since before papers were started, and God worked in my heart and then in my husband's and my marriage is now SO much better than it has ever been in 11 years of marriage and 6 years together before that. Try The Love Dare, even if you're already through it. It has been an amazing helper.

I had to return it because of the poor editing and lack of structure.Ouch!

Although I am happily un-divorced I had heard people talking very positively about Rossana Condoleo's 'Happy Divorce'. So I thought I would give it a go. I am glad I did. It is very interesting with a refreshing philosophy and gives a perceptive insight into dealing spiritually, mentally and physially with the pains and pitfalls of the divorce process and then how to survive in the single world again.A self empowerment book at its best.An unhappy marriage and subsequent divorce is not mandatory.Rossana's style is very approachable and honest making this book a real pleasure to read.

This book provides an iron-clad explanation for the failure of oil exporters - especially developing nations - to use their raw material blessings as a lever for improvement. The author provides outstanding comparisons among oil exporters, along with amazing parallels to the Spanish empire. There's an important point here about how human nature and government limitations often doom these "blessed" countries to failure. Call it the King Midas effect...On the downside, her point is clearly made in the first 50 pages. In the remainder of the book the author goes into too much detail regarding the political evolution of Venezuela. And she fails to end with a reader-friendly synopsis or a glimpse of the future.With today's troubles in the Mideast, this book could have been a lay-reader best seller. Unfortunately the author's writing is aimed more toward Political Science professors than the general public. Still worth the purchase, however.

This book, rich in detail, provides a penetrating look into the petro state and its consequences for economic and political development. Karl is especially adept at providing facts and analysis in her study of the Venezuelan oil boom and subsequent bust in the 1970s and 1980s. If you are looking for an in depth look into the reasons for rentier states' volatile and precarious development trajectories, or if you simply want to know more about those states' political economies, then this book is for you.

"[A]fter benefiting from the largest transfer of wealth ever to occur without war, why have most oil-exporting developing countries suffered from economic deterioration and political decay?" In her long-awaited study, Karl offers a sophisticated cross-cultural reply to this question, focusing on the capital-deficit countries of Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria, and Venezuela. Finding inadequate the existing explanations that focus almost exclusively on economic disruption (the "Dutch Disease"), she notes the deep social and political roots of the problems and adds these much-needed dimensions to the discussion.Her complex argument boils down to this: oil booms (like all commodity booms) put enormous power in the hands of the state that suddenly has vast sums at its disposal. "How these states collect and distribute taxes, in turn, creates incentives that pervasively influence the organization of political and economic life and shapes government preferences to respect to public policies." In other words, "the origin of a state's revenues influences the full range of its political institutions." This book is a good contribution to the scholarship of one-good exporters, such as oil for many Middle Eastern countries and Venezuela. The author focuses on Venezuela, with occasional reference to other countries.The main thesis is that aside from the traditional Dutch disease of such intense exporters, there is an organizational component in the downfall of such plenty. For example, she argues that a large self-serving infrastructure and bureaucracy is built around the "pot of gold". She argues this may be one of the main causes that coutnries squander such valuable resources without ever refocusing them on the development of people (health and education) or the country's economy (such as through the extension of value-added activities).Overall, an interesting proposition, though I am not sure this is a phenomenon unique to countries faced with the plenty of oil or other products. It is a strong case that inefficiencies are added through bureaucracies, but I still believe much of the damage is caused by the traditional Dutch disease.

The Paradox of Plenty provides great detail and explanation into the world of Petro-States and the amazing similarities that oil-producing countries share (obviously with some exceptions). Terry Lynn Karl does an excellent job at explaining what are the most relevant factors that determine the successes and failures of Petro-States in their ability to "sow petroleum".The King Midas Effect and the Dutch Disease are used as descriptions and comparisons of the sickness that the majority of the countries blessed with oil suffer. The Paradox of Plenty, in my opinion, does an excellent job at narrowing and analyzing the political, economical and social decisions from the past 100-or-so years which led the Oil-producing Countries either into the developed world or on a straight path to under-development and corruption.I agree with some of the reviews in the sense that the book is written for academic purposes and it can be a little dense at the beginning. Nevertheless, once you get past the first 30+ pages, you become used to the writing and the book becomes interesting and enriching.The book bases most of its analysis and theses using Venezuela as an example. An oil-rich Country with one of the largest reserves in the world that has failed to make the jump into the developed world. This was another plus for me since, as a Venezuelan Citizen, the book taught me a great deal of history.It is definitely a must read. More specially for every politician who wishes to engage with the oil industry and must understand the mistakes from the past to avoid them in the present.
